What A Day!

Thank You for Joining Us

Over 160 community representatives and stakeholders spent the day on Boston Harbor hearing presentations about economic development, climate change preparedness, and water quality, among other topics. The weather couldn’t have been more spectacular.

The Advisory Board would like to publicly thank Fred Laskey and the entire MWRA staff for all of their efforts in helping to make the field trip run smoothly. We also wish to thank our wonderful speakers:
- Austin Blackmon, Chief of Environment, Energy, and Open Space for the City of Boston, for his presentation on climate change preparedness in East Boston and Charlestown;
- Jill Valdes Horwood and Alice Brown of Boston Harbor Now, for their perspectives on economic development along the Seaport District;
- Dave Duest, Director of Deer Island Treatment Plant, for his shipside tour of Deer Island;
- Betsy Reilley, Director of Environmental Quality, for her overview of water quality.

Lastly, we cannot thank Boston Harbor Cruises enough for their generous support and attention to detail. A special shoutout goes to the Seastreak Manhattan captain and crew for their professionalism. They could not have been more accommodating.

Planning is already underway for next year's field trip. We can't wait to see you there.
